چکیده

This paper looks at the nonparametric, multiscale, Markov Random Field (MRF) model and its application in classifying the MeasTex Test Suite. The MeasTex Test Suite is a standard by which various texture classification algorithms can be compared. Typically, todays texture classification algorithms have been based on supervised classification, whereby all the classification classes have been predefined. We look at a new texture classification scheme, one that does not require a complete set of predefined classes. Instead our texture classification scheme is based on a significance test. A texture is classified on the basis of whether or not its statistical properties can be deemed to be from the same population of statistics as that define a training set texture. If not, texture is deemed unknown. The advantages and disadvantages of such a scheme are discussed in this paper.

Nonparametric Estimation of Spatial Risk for a Mean Nonstationary Random Field}

The common methods for spatial risk estimation are investigated for a stationary random field. Because of simplifying, lets distribution is known, and parametric variogram for the random field are considered. In this paper, we study a nonparametric spatial method for spatial risk. In this method, we model the random field trend by a local linear estimator, and through bias-corrected residuals, ...

Cluster-Based Image Segmentation Using Fuzzy Markov Random Field

Image segmentation is an important task in image processing and computer vision which attract many researchers attention. There are a couple of information sets pixels in an image: statistical and structural information which refer to the feature value of pixel data and local correlation of pixel data, respectively. Markov random field (MRF) is a tool for modeling statistical and structural inf...

Smooth Image Segmentation by Nonparametric Bayesian Inference

A nonparametric Bayesian model for histogram clustering is proposed to automatically determine the number of segments when Markov Random Field constraints enforce smooth class assignments. The nonparametric nature of this model is implemented by a Dirichlet process prior to control the number of clusters. The resulting posterior can be sampled by a modification of a conjugate-case sampling algo...

Texture synthesis via a noncausal nonparametric multiscale Markov random field

Our noncausal, nonparametric, multiscale, Markov random field (MRF) model is capable of synthesizing and capturing the characteristics of a wide variety of textures, from the highly structured to the stochastic. We use a multiscale synthesis algorithm incorporating local annealing to obtain larger realizations of texture visually indistinguishable from the training texture.

A Spatially-Constrained Normalized Gamma Process for Data Clustering

In this work, we propose a novel nonparametric Bayesian method for clustering of data with spatial interdependencies. Specifically, we devise a novel normalized Gamma process, regulated by a simplified (pointwise) Markov random field (Gibbsian) distribution with a countably infinite number of states. As a result of its construction, the proposed model allows for introducing spatial dependencies...
